Clean City Launch
It was a dark time last year when the nation, especially the city of Harare was hit by a cholera plague. Econet as part of their social responsibility took it upon themselves to help clean up affected areas especially Budiriro and Glenview dubbing it the clean up campaign. Fast forward a few months later it is announced Vaya would be helping private waste collectors to collect waste in different areas of Harare.
Now under the name Clean City, which has since become a subsidiary of Cassava Smartech. Clean City has taken a life of its own, taking over the city, infiltrating neighbourhoods, collecting waste, cleaning up dumpsites, and even supplying trash bags to residents to better manage their waste. What started as a small thing has since become a very big thing, helping maintain hygiene and at the same time employing a lot of people helping them feed their families.
Yesterday on the 3rd of July Clean City was officially launched by the C.E.O of the brand Mr. Lovemore Nyatsine at the Celebration Centre in Harare and more than 300 people were in attendance. It was a hopeful atmosphere and anyone leaving that place and listening to the vision of the leader could see it in their eyes, a better and cleaner Harare and in going forward, Zimbabwe. In an interview, Mr Nyatsine was asked about challenges faced by the initiative his response was that they are not going to focus on challenges but focus on the opportunities at hand and there are a lot of them.
Clean City is here to stay and for a good cause, here are some of the pictures from the launch event.
